People Smuggling Taskforce Minutes ~ 10 October - 25 October 2001

The minutes of the People Smuggling Taskforce (PST) from 27 August to 9 November 2001 were submitted to the CMI Inquiry on 6 June 2002.

In the covering letter to the Committee from the Department of The Prime Minister and Cabinet, the reasons for the deletions in the minutes (marked with the letter A or B) are explained.

In a second letter to the Committee on 21 June, it is explained that the mention of SIEV8 in the minutes of 22 October refers to SIEVX. It should also be noted that in this letter the minutes are now being referred to as 'notes'.

Rear Admiral Raydon Gates also writes to the Committee on the same day, requesting that the error in the minutes be addressed.

In a further clarifying letter to the Committee on 25 June, Minister Hill suggests that in future these documents should only be referred to as 'notes'.
