INTERDICTION OF PEOPLE SMUGGLERS TO CONTINUE

When the Prime Minister announced the commencement of the people smuggling interdiction operations in our northern waters he signaled that it would be reviewed after three weeks.

The presence of major fleet units and RAAF aircraft has reinforced the Government's determination to combat people smuggling and continues to send a strong message about the Government's resolve.

RAAF crews and Naval personnel have continued to do an excellent job, maintaining the highest professional standards.

The Government believes that the operation is working to good effect and it will continue.
